On May 1st, the British Times Higher Education (THE) Special Issue released the 2024 Asia University Rankings. Taiwan Tech jumped significantly from 137th place last year to 71st place this year. It is tied with National Tsing Hua University as the fourth best university in the country while maintaining its position as the top university nationwide for International Outlook Project and advancing to fourth place nationally for Research Quality.
To enhance its international visibility, Taiwan Tech actively promotes international academic exchanges and establishes overseas research centers, collaborating with top academic institutions worldwide. This strengthens the school's ties with the international academic community, creating more international learning and research opportunities for faculty and students, and further expanding horizons.
In recent years, Taiwan Tech has emphasized research quality and impact, supporting faculty in conducting high-level research and publishing outstanding papers. Consequently, its performance in the Field Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) is excellent, and it has the highest proportion of top-tier journal publications in Taiwan, reflecting research outcomes with greater global influence compared to the global average in the same field.
At the same time, Taiwan Tech encourages faculty to align their research directions with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations, focusing directly on solving current societal issues and emphasizing global sustainable development. This ensures that research is closely aligned with the needs of society, the environment, and the world.
THE has introduced new research-related indicators this year, providing a more comprehensive evaluation of universities' research quality, industry connections, international perspectives, research environment, and teaching quality.
