The charity golf tournament at Taiwan Tech originated from the efforts of the seventh-term alumni association president, Chin-Nan Hsieh, an alumnus of the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering. After returning to Taiwan Tech to serve as the director of the Indigenous Student Resource Center, he noticed that indigenous students often had to work long hours due to financial issues, which affected their studies. He frequently contributed personally or gathered alumni donations to provide scholarships, helping indigenous students overcome economic difficulties and complete their education.

After Hsieh's passing, alumnus Yong-Hao Sung from the Department of Electrical Engineering initiated the “Hand in hand to share love scholarship” for outstanding indigenous students. This scholarship” was designed as a long-term support model, providing scholarships for students from their first to fourth year for nine months each year, allowing them to focus on their studies. During the summer and winter breaks, students are encouraged to work part-time to foster independence and self-reliance.

In 2019, the Alumni Association initiated the first charity golf tournament to raise funds for the “Hand in hand to share love scholarship”, honoring the caring spirit of alumnus Chin-Nan Hsieh towards his junior peers. This year marks the third edition of the event, coinciding with Taiwan Tech's 50th-anniversary celebrations, leading to significant growth in both the scale and participation compared to previous years.

The event’s overall coordinator, Honorary Chairman Heng-Shou Hsu of the Alumni Association, expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic response from alumni. He also specifically thanked the Alumni Association's secretariat and Taiwan Tech staff for their behind-the-scenes support and dedicated planning, which contributed to the event's success. He emphasized that the Alumni Association will continue this meaningful initiative and welcomed enthusiastic alumni and companies to join hands in public welfare to nurture outstanding talent together.

Since its establishment in 2019, the “Hand in hand to share love scholarship” has supported 17 outstanding Indigenous students from low-income backgrounds. The recipients expressed that the scholarship allows them to focus on their studies and eases the financial burden on their families. They are also grateful for the encouragement from their senior peers, which motivates them to maintain their academic performance and improve their skills. They hope that one day, when they are able, they can give back to society and pass on this warmth. This embodies the mission and spirit of the “Hand in hand to share love scholarship” in sustaining its legacy and creating a cycle of goodwill.
