Taiwan Tech is committed to promoting Industry-Academia Collaboration and Sustainable Talent Development. Since 2023, Taiwan Tech has launched the Made In Taiwan Tech (MITT) series of industry-academia forums to facilitate exchange and interaction. The forum is divided into four sessions, featuring themes such as “Cybersecurity Talent Cultivation and Industry-Academia Collaboration”, “Concurrent Energy Storage: Future Power Technologies and New Era Energy Management Systems”, “Net Zero Emissions and Sustainable Finance”, and “Mastering ESG Keys: Building Corporate Sustainable Competitiveness”, invite many heavyweight experts to discuss the current global situation and future trends from policy, industry, and international perspectives.

Taiwan Tech President, Jia-Yush Yen, emphasizes Taiwan Tech keeps up with world trends and actively develops in areas like net-zero carbon emissions, energy transformation, cybersecurity, and corporate sustainability. These forums not only showcase Taiwan Tech's technological achievements over a long period of time but also create opportunities for industry dialogue to address development status, and challenges and propose solutions to create a win-win situation. Taiwan Tech aims to build an effective platform for industry-academia collaboration, driving technological innovation and sustainable development.

The theme of the first series of forum focuses on “Cybersecurity Talent Cultivation and Industry-Academia Collaboration”. It invites international cybersecurity giants Check Point Software, Palo Alto Networks, VMware, Taiwan Information Security Association, and Taiwan Tech's cybersecurity research team to discuss the importance and challenges of cybersecurity talent cultivation and industry-academia collaboration and share practical experiences and insights. Professor Shi-Cho Cha, Chairman of the Department of Information Management and Director of the Taiwan Information Security Center at Taiwan Tech, emphasized the increasing complexity of cybersecurity threats. Taiwan Tech integrates campus resources to establish a comprehensive cybersecurity practical training environment, enabling students to assist companies in planning and improving their cybersecurity frameworks upon entering the industry.

In response to Taiwan's net zero transformation policy, the second forum titled “Concurrent Energy Storage: Future Power Technologies and New Era Energy Management Systems” was held. It featured discussions from industry and academic perspectives on the latest developments in future power technologies and energy storage management systems. Speakers included: Li-Jian Huang, General Manager of Smart Power Systems; Tsai Zhi-Da, R&D Director of HD Renewable Energy Co Ltd; Professor Cheng-Chien Kuo, Director of the Institute of Energy and Sustainability Technology at Taiwan Tech; Jin-Zhong Wu, Chief Engineer and Spokesperson at Taiwan Power Company; Zu-Hua Ai, Director of Energy Storage Business Division at Delta Electronics and Pei-Ru Yu, Analyst at DIGITIMES. Cheng-Chien Kuo highlighted that integrating energy management systems with technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data has significantly enhanced security and reliability in recent years. He emphasized that the multifaceted applications of energy storage will be crucial for Taiwan to achieve the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.

The forum titled “Mastering ESG Keys: Building Corporate Sustainable Competitiveness” featured discussions with Ling-Yi Tsai, Director of the Climate Change Office at the Executive Yuan's Environmental Protection Administration; Lai-Zhu Chen, Chairman of Tianlai Innovation Group; and the Taiwan Tech Net Zero Center team. They explored how companies can create sustainable competitiveness through ESG strategies. Taiwan Tech’s Vice President Jhy-Chern Liu emphasized that ESG has become a global consensus. He highlighted that if companies want to occupy a place in the international market, green and sustainable practices are essential. Taiwan Tech has initiated greenhouse gas inventory meetings to understand the carbon emission status of students, faculty, and staff, and set carbon reduction goals to progressively implement their ESG vision.

Global attention towards net zero emissions and sustainable finance continues to rise. The final forum focused on “Net Zero Emissions and Sustainable Finance”, featuring discussions with Chairman Yao-Hsin Chien from the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy, then Executive Yuan Spokesperson Tzu-Lun Lin, General Manager Jian-Wei Chen from TUL, and Dr. Tsai-Chi Kuo, Director of the Department of Industrial Management at Taiwan Tech. They explored the importance and future trends of net zero emissions and sustainable finance. Jian-Wei Chen highlighted that environmental protection poses challenges but also presents business opportunities. He emphasized that companies can leverage innovative technologies to achieve both environmental protection and economic growth. Dr. Tsai-Chi Kuo mentioned that Taiwan Tech research teams have successfully developed a carbon inventory platform, offering a scalable, easily maintainable, and updatable system to assist companies in smoothly transitioning to green practices.
