In recent years, despite the temporary suspension of overseas visits due to the pandemic, Taiwan Tech has remained proactive in promoting online exchanges. Through correspondence and continual efforts, Taiwan Tech has sustained its international connections, resulting in ranking first in Taiwan for international student numbers and international outlook indicators in the 2022 QS and THE rankings. International students comprise 18% of the graduate student population, with the highest number coming from Indonesia, totaling 1,683 Indonesian international students currently nurtured by Taiwan Tech.
As the situation surrounding the pandemic improves, President Jia-Yush Yen led a delegation for the first time on December 3rd, 2023, to visit sister universities in Indonesia. This visit encompassed four universities: Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, Widya Mandala Catholic University, Petra Christian University, and Bandung Institute of Technology. At Widya Mandala Catholic University, President Jia-Yush Yen and Dr. Kuncoro Foe, the university's president, renewed their commitment by signing a memorandum of cooperation, further strengthening educational and research collaboration between the two institutions.
This year marks Taiwan Tech's 20 years of deep engagement in Indonesia. The first agreement was signed in 2003 by the former president, Dr. Shun-Tian Chen, with the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology. Professor Setiyo Gunawan was the first Indonesian student to attend Taiwan Tech in 2004 and is currently the Director of the Halal Center at Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology. Additionally, alumni such as Dr. Fadlilatul Taufany serve as the Research and Development Director at Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, while Dr. Nani Kurniati, an alumni from the Department of Industrial Management at Taiwan Tech, serves as the Vice-Chair of the Department of Industrial Management at Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology.

Taiwan Tech has signed bilateral agreements with several Indonesian schools, focusing on research funding, student exchanges, dual-degree programs, and bridging initiatives. These agreements aim to promote international education and industry cooperation, establishing recruitment models for outstanding alumni from countries like Vietnam, India, Ethiopia, the Czech Republic, among others. For instance, Dr. Aning Ayucitra, Vice-President of Widya Mandala Catholic University in Indonesia, and Dr. Felycia Edi Soetaredjo, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the same university, are both alumni of Taiwan Tech. Both individuals graduated from the Department of Chemical Engineering. Dr. Felycia Edi Soetaredjo was honored as one of the "2018 Asian Scientists 100" by the Asian Scientist Magazine. Taiwan Tech also has a close partnership with Bandung Institute of Technology. Prof. Iman Adipurnama, an alumnus of Bandung Institute of Technology, completed his post-doctoral studies at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Taiwan Tech and currently holds a teaching position at the College of Engineering of Taiwan Tech.

In addition, Taiwan Tech collaborated with Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology and Widya Mandala Catholic University in 2021 to establish the "Taiwan-Indonesia Science and Technology Innovation Center for Circular Economy and Green Innovative Resources" (STIC-CEGIR). This center aims to contribute significantly to Indonesia's development in a circular economy and green innovative resources. During this visit to Indonesia, on December 6th, an unveiling ceremony and an industry-academic forum for the "Taiwan-Indonesia Science and Technology Innovation Center" were held in Surabaya. The event was jointly hosted by President of Taiwan Tech Jia-Yush Yen and Dr. Kuncoro Foe, President of Widya Mandala Catholic University. Approximately 150 representatives from both countries' industry, government, and academia attended, fostering an interactive platform for exchange. Both parties also plan to co-organize a technical forum in Taipei in March of the following year (113th year of the Republic of China).

President Jia-Yush Yen mentioned that Taiwan Tech actively creates diverse opportunities for cross-national learning. These opportunities include laboratory internships in foreign companies, participation in international league competitions, involvement in the Borderless Engineers program, and avenues such as international student exchanges and dual-degree programs. In the effort to expand the student body and cultivate human resources, apart from the 20 years of engagement in Indonesia, Taiwan Tech welcomes students from over 60 countries. The number and proportion of international graduate students rank highest in Taiwan. Taiwan Tech nurtures foreign professionals, conducts international job fairs, and encourages international students to remain in Taiwan after graduation. These efforts not only aim to facilitate local students' exposure to the world but also welcome and retain international students and alumni in Taiwan.
In cultivating international talents in Taiwan, Taiwan Tech, with the assistance of its alumni association, has established alumni associations in various countries including Indonesia, Northern California, Southern California, the East Coast of the United States, Mongolia, Ethiopia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, and other countries. In 2021, Taiwan Tech established the "Taiwan Tech International Alumni Association" in Taiwan. Every year, a year-end banquet is organized to gather international alumni who reside in Taiwan, with over 500 international alumni attending, reconnecting with their alma mater. Taiwan Tech's continuous internationalization has produced over 4,000 international alumni spread across various academic and industrial sectors worldwide. The support of international alumni serves as Taiwan Tech's strongest pillar and injects new energy into Taiwan's industry and academia.
President Jia-Yush Yen, on December 15th, 2022, specifically highlighted the strategic direction of internationalization. He mentioned that Taiwan Tech actively strengthens educational and research cooperation with sister schools in Europe to create diverse international learning opportunities for students. Simultaneously, Taiwan Tech continues to collaborate with the strength of Southeast Asian alumni to engage in bilateral research cooperation, expand the student body, and cultivate foreign professional talent. Ultimately, the goal is to enhance students' international mobility and build a robust foundation of international human capital.
