On the 17th, Taiwan Tech and HIWIN held a signing ceremony, outlining a 12-year long-term collaboration. Under this strategic partnership, an annual allocation of 10 million New Taiwan Dollars has been designated to cultivate talents and foster industry-academia cooperation in fields such as smart manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and sustainable energy technology. The founder of HIWIN, Mr. Yong-Cai Zhuo, has made significant contributions to domestic industry development and technological education. Recognized for his accomplishments, he was awarded an honorary doctoral degree in engineering from Taiwan Tech in 2015 and also serves as a guiding committee member for the university's Industry-Academia Innovation College. He contributes valuable industry experience to cultivate outstanding talents for the industry.

HIWIN stands as a benchmark enterprise in Taiwan's precision machinery and critical components sector. To ignite the research and innovation potential among young scholars in the field of mechanical engineering, HIWIN initiated the "HIWIN Mechanical Master's Thesis Award" in 2004. With a cumulative investment exceeding hundreds of million New Taiwan Dollars, this initiative has garnered substantial recognition from both the domestic machinery industry and the academic community. Chairman Wen-Heng Zhuo pointed out that HIWIN has made substantial resource investments in sustainable products and intelligent manufacturing. The industry-academia collaborative relationship between HIWIN and our university has persisted. He also anticipates that through this long-term collaborative initiative, the nurturing of talents relevant to Taiwan's machinery industry will reach new heights, resulting in more comprehensive and tangible advancements in research and development capabilities.

Taiwan Tech and HIWIN Signed Industry-Academia Collaboration Project Agreement.

In the previous year (2022), the Industry-Academia Innovation College of Taiwan Tech was officially inaugurated. The college established three research institutes based on intelligent manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and sustainable energy technology. With the commencement of admissions during the 111th academic year and in anticipation of the forthcoming intake for the 112th academic year, this new cohort comprises a total of 180 master's students, 26 doctoral candidates, and 4 international students. Through a curriculum encompassing research management and innovative development courses, as well as enriched practical experiences and international exchanges, the college strengthens international competitiveness and cultivates globally competitive technology and management through study management, innovative research and development courses, expansion of practical experience, and international exchange talent.

Through such partnerships, the college aims to enhance its research and development capabilities, establish robust academia-industry linkages, and perpetuate the legacy of nurturing exceptional talent.
